Holistic Speaking

I have recently discovered a new way for Professional Speakers to powerfully interact with audiences.  I call this method ‘Holistic Speaking’. Holistic is defined as dealing with or treating the whole of something or someone and not just a part.

Holistic Speaking, when executed properly, can connect a speaker to their audience in a physical and emotional merging of words, non verbal communication skills and voice dynamics.

holistic speakingAudiences need an experience when listening to a speaker.  There are many techniques in a speaker’s toolbox to excite, entertain and inform. Strong voice dynamics is the foundation of professional speaking.  If the speaker can not be heard with proper projection and clarity the message gets lost in translation.  Speakers need a minimum of 25 vocal tones to their voice.  They have to be able to use a variation of volume, pitch, rate, confidence and melody.  Speakers have to be experts at using pauses and getting rid of fillers such as ‘um’ or ‘and dum’. Strong non verbal communication skills such as gestures can turn a flat, boring speech into an exciting presentation filled with a rich and vibrant use of properly placed gestures.

A presentational style using different forms such as music, narration, props, movement, can add the dimension of fabulous to the speaker’s style.

‘Holistic Speaking’ is one of the best ways of reaching an audience, maintaining their interest and becoming memorable
